NATURAL STONE PAVING
All the paving in the Sticks and Stones' range is selected, not only for its natural beauty and aesthetic appeal, but also for qualities we consider essential to ensure excellent performance as a paving material. These are: Hardness, Durability, Low Moisture Absorption and Non-Slip Surface Texture. With every stone guaranteed to be a practical paving choice, all there is left for you to do is choose from the wide selection of colours and formats available to satisfy your particular needs.
Before making your choice of paving, it is important to get a real feel for its natural beauty by viewing the stone in person. Photographs can only be a guide for the colours, markings, texture and variations each of the stone types possess and a true impression can only be experienced in the flesh.

Autumn Sandstone
A rich and varied palette of sandy creams, beiges, tans and russet browns. This stone is extremely welcoming, warming and naturally beautiful. It often has plant fossils in its face adding that bit more interest and its nonslip surface is riven adding texture and natural appeal. The subtle yellow and orange hues, complement blues and greens well, making this stone ideal for around the swimming pool.

Mocha Sandstone
This stone has a rich mocha brown, or coffee cream colouration, which varies more in tone than hue across its individual paving units. Earthy and warm with class, it has a riven texture in its nonslip surface and is an excellent choice for many design styles.

Grey Sandstone
This is a particularly colour consistent sandstone. It is a neutral light grey with a slightly warm beige undertone, making it an excellent option for many colour schemes and design styles. It has a riven texture and often has sparkling silica composites in its nonslip surface. It has great light reflecting properties and is ideal for lightening up a darker area. It is also kinder on bare feet in the hot summer.

Green Sandstone
A subtle verdant undertone graces this stone which has the advantage of slightly more colour consistency than most. This is a good light-reflective stone that can brighten an area. It is particularly ideal for shady damp spots, as any greening from the inevitable surface algae will take longer to look out of place.

Riviera Sandstone
With a peculiar and interesting colouring of neutral beige to warm grey, veined with ruddy undertones - almost raspberry ripple like at times - this is an extremely attractive paving on mass and its riven surface only accentuates the natural appeal. This is an excellent choice if you are after an essentially neutral paver with a subtle hint of something a bit different.

Umber Sandstone
This stone features deep shades of mustard, terracotta and plum through to burgundy, which compliment one another perfectly to form a warm, rich, inviting and indulgent effect. Perfect for a cozy corner where you want to make a statement. Due to its intensity, it can be used to good effect as a detail along side another stone such as Autumn Sandstone.

Khaki Limestone
Displaying soft and earthy hues from a palette of olive greens and sandy beiges with a subtle splash of warmer russet tones here and there, this stone adds warmth without being over powering and has an even, nonslip surface.

|
 |
Blue Limestone
A cool, grey-blue option displaying reliable consistency in colour. This stone has a clean and cooling effect, and as such, is great in contemporary and architectural designs. The surface is flat and even, with a stippled, extremely nonslip surface.

Black Limestone
The hardest of all the stones, this limestone is almost pure black and if you are lucky, it can have traces of fools gold in its face. This is a very classy and smart paving stone, with an even, dimpled nonslip surface. Its great for outdoors or indoors, en mass, or, as an edging detail to other stones such as the Grey Sandstone.
It does however get very hot underfoot in direct sunlight which should be considered if placing in a sunny position where children in particular, may be running barefoot. This stone also has a peculiar characteristic of silvering off in direct sunlight which loses the sheer black quality. Many people like this and it can be used to its advantage. As soon as the surface is wet it appears black again.
To accentuate its sheer black qualities we recommend application of a penetrative, colour enhancing sealer to the stone's surface which will prevent this silvering appearance.
Many products for sealing and intensifying colour are available and their price often reflects their quality and longevity. See Helpful links
